Bathroom Merchants is a new addition to our long-established Heat Merchants brand, which provides our trade customers with a complete bathroom and showering product range.

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We're recruiting for a Product Manager for our Bathroom Merchants' brand to join our fast-growing company; someone who is passionate, innovative, and driven.

The location for this role can be flexible but the candidate must be willing to train onsite in our Business Support Offices in Athlone for the first few weeks. Thereafter, you will must base yourself in Athlone up to 2 days a week.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The successful candidate will be responsible for researching current trends in the Bathroom Industry and analysing market price points ensuring we procure the best product at the lowest cost, for our Trade & Commercial business. They will also assist with the development of selling strategies, product marketing, Displays, training and sales support for the Bathroom Merchants brand.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:

  • Management of Product set.
  • Developing selling and marketing strategies and initiatives.
  • Staying up to date with the market trends, conducting research on competitors and consumer behaviour and determining a competitive pricing strategy, as well as developing and conducting training sessions across the Bathroom Merchants Branch network.

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • Lead supplier negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and conditions to drive cost savings and strengthen supplier relationships.
  • Developing and executing strategic plans for Bathroom Merchants brand assigned to drive sales and profitability. Analysing market trends, consumer behaviour and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and market gaps.
  • Monitor and evaluate category performance, leveraging key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  • Managing product assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory to optimise category performance and manage stock value and stock days in the business.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop effective product messaging, positioning, and communication strategies.
  • Training and Development of Bathroom sales staff to help them improve their understanding of product ranges and as well as helpful sales techniques to ensure they have the tools to retain existing customers and attract new ones.
  • Ensure that all day to day needs of Branch network are actioned in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by Management.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of purchasing principles
  • Ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent team player
  • Experience in pricing and a clear understanding of margin expectation
  • Ability to demonstrate sound commercial acumen with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Relevant experience using an ERP system.
  • Proficient user of MS Excel & Powerpoint.
  • Full, clean, valid driving license

Desirable

  • Practical Plumbing & bathroom product knowledge in relation to Bathroom Merchants product range.
  • Good Technical knowledge of plumbing systems & products
  • Previous exposure to key Plumbing & Bathroom suppliers in terms of price negotiation
  • Previous exposure to working with an internal pricing department.
